Day 9 – Ha Giang – Quan Ba - Yen Minh – Pho Bang - Dong Van – Mont Ma Pi Leng – Meo Vac – Dong Van (210kms)

Departure for Dong Van, via Quan Ba, Yen Minh.

As far as 47 kilometers from Ha Giang town, and situated at an altitude of over 1000 meters above sea level, fresh air, wild scenery, majestic nature with endlessly range of Limestone Mountains. The nature has granted here a wonderful place called “Cô Tiên Double Mountain”, it is two tops of the limestone mountain. Its shape is the same as “two breasts” of the girl, lie in the middle of the field in Quan Ba. This actually is an unique landscape of Tam Son in particular and Dong Van stone plateau Geo-park in general.

Quan Ba market takes place one time per week - Sunday. The minorities in traditional costume such as: Hmong, Dao, Tay, Nung, Viet come there to exchange their products in open air.

A short stop in the valley of Sung La.

Afternoon: visit the village of Lo Lo existing only here, traditional clothes are particularly captivating.

Continuation of the road to Dong Van.

Stop over at Pho Bang, a small town at the frontier of Vietnam and China, lying at 20 kilometers far from Dong Van suburban district and 117 kilometers away from Ha Giang Township. For a long time, Pho Bang has been famous as an interesting destination of Ha Giang land with ancient streets mixed between Chinese architecture and the architectural style of the local inhabitants H'mong. Here, there is also "cho lui" (kermis) which is organized once a week, one day receded at the coming week. This kermis has less people than in Dong Van but it is original. Visit the mansion of Vuong Chi Sinh, the head of the Vuong family – the most powerful Mong ethnic family in the region more than 100 years ago. He proclaimed himself as the King of the region, and adopted the title "Vua Meo", meaning "King of the Meo" (former name of the Mong ethnic group) to dominate all the northern mountainous region. The mansion is an architectural masterpiece of the Mong ethnic people living in Dong Van karst plateau.

Continue to Meo Vac. The road between Dong Van and Meo Vac is famous for being one of the most spectacular in the world, and rightly so.

Dong Van is, above all, the gate of one of the most extraordinary roads on Earth, going from Dong Van to Meo Vac. 13km of a good road climbs the Ma Pi Leng Pass. FABULOUS!!!!

On the very steep slopes, here and there, barely visible houses of black rock; no trail seems to lead there; On your left, the vertiginous canyon of the Nho Qué River (a dirt road goes down and arrives at the village of Sam Pun, at the Chinese border). The entire area is really Nature at its wildest, an impressive “End of the World”.

You go down to the village of Dao Thanh Phan, to contact them and discover their culture and daily life.
